80 Outfits from Chrisjen Avarsarala's Wardrobe: A fan collection

The Expanse is one of, if not, the best Sci-Fi series of all time. From plot, storylines, character development, graphics (omfg the graphics!) to politics, life and more, it covers everything so well. It's a series well deserving of the critical acclamation it has received, from, first by its niche community who was instrumental in bringing it to life and then from the larger audience it amassed during its run on Amazon Prime.

A girl from India, every time I watch the show, I'm so mesmerised by these unique, stunning and beautiful costumes. And the sheer quantity used in the show is incredible. I had to document all the ones that I could find. I counted 80 different costumes across the show's 62 episodes.

There aren't many instances of saree as a space costume. I don't think I have come across any before The Expanse. The authors have done a fantastic job in imagining how culture would be adapted as humanity grows to colonise the entire solar system. Most pop culture today would shy away from this costume choice, even in Bollywood.

It's very rare to see a female character as bold and fierce like Avasarala, someone incredibly ambitions, compassionate yet ruthless, a leader and all while wearing her culture proudly. One cannot help but feel the regal powers that Madam Avasarala wields. Although the costumes are a huge part of Avasarala's characters, she is so much bigger than them. The costumes never get in the way and are always seamlessly integrated with every situation they exist in.

I'm forever in love with The Expanse. A huge thanks to Ty Frank and Daniel Abraham for creating this beautiful work and to Naren Shankar, the whole production team and crew for this incredible show and to Shoreh Aghdashloo, Dominique Tipper, Frankie Adams, Cara Gee, Wes Chatham, Steven Strait, Keon Alexander and the whole cast for bringing these amazing characters to life.
